When his mother dies, Yusuf returns to his home village. A girl named Ayla is waiting for him in<br />
a decrepit house. Yusuf must perform the rite his mother, Zehra, could not fulfi ll before she died.<br />
On their way for the saint’s tomb, they are obliged to spend the night in a hotel. Caught up in the<br />

Semih Kaplanoglu was born in 1963 in Izmir. He graduated from the Film<br />
and Television Department at the Dokuz Eylul University. His feature fi lm<br />
debut Away form home (2000) won several awards and was shown at a<br />
number of festivals. Angel’s Fall (2004) also received the attention of both<br />
audiences and critics. He has also written a number of articles about fi ne<br />
arts and cinema.
