ULRIKE OTTINGER DIRECTOR, WRITER, PHOTOGRAPHER Ulrike Ottinger was born in 1942. She lived in Paris from 1962 to 1968, working as a painter and photographer. In 1966 she wrote her fi rst screenplay, directed her fi rst movie LAOKOON & SONS in 1972-73. In 1969, she founded the fi lm club “Visuelle” and the art gallery and edition “galeriepress” in Konstanz. Since 1973 she has been living in Berlin. In addition to making fi lms, Ulrike Ottiger directs stage plays and as well as exhibiting her photographs at international exhibitions and showing her fi lms at retrospectives.

DAVID D’ ARCY David D’Arcy is a critic and journalist who has programmed fi lm and video series at festivals around the world. He is a regular fi lm critic for Screen International, the movie trade magazine based in London. He is a frequent commentator on the BBC Radio program, “Front Row.” He was the host, writer and co-producer of “Independent Minds,” the award-winning public radio series on trends in contemporary fi lm. He covered the cultural scene for National Public Radio for two decades. He has also worked as a reporter and critic for BBC Radio and television, and for the Canadian Broadcasting Company, covering stories in North America, Latin America, Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. His articles and reviews have appeared in the Economist, Vanity Fair, the Wall Street Journal, Metropolis and many other publications. David D’Arcy is known for his live interviews of fi lmmakers at festivals around the world. His daily radio show of live interviews with directors and actors during the Sundance Film Festival has been a fi xture of that event for seventeen years. 7
