Criteria for<strong>Special</strong> <strong>Project</strong> ParticipationInitiative Grant <strong>2011</strong>This scheme reflects <strong>and</strong> will contribute to, the strategies of the <strong>Sligo</strong> <strong>Sport</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Recreation</strong> <strong>Partnership</strong>2007-2012, the Irish <strong>Sport</strong>s Council <strong>and</strong> Coaching Irel<strong>and</strong>.This Grant Scheme aims to increase participation <strong>and</strong> improve the management <strong>and</strong> administration ofclubs <strong>and</strong> in particular, to develop youth structures in clubs / organisation <strong>and</strong> address high priority targetgroups thereby providing sport <strong>and</strong> physical activity opportunities.Applicants will be assessed <strong>and</strong> allocation of grants determined having regard for the criteria below whichreflects both <strong>Sligo</strong> <strong>Sport</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Recreation</strong> <strong>Partnership</strong> <strong>and</strong> Irish <strong>Sport</strong>s Council policies <strong>and</strong> priorities asoutlined in their respective strategies.Eligible request <strong>Project</strong>s regarding ( may include): publicity from the funding agency. Ineligible <strong>Project</strong>s (will include):Introduction of new sports projects/initiatives for targetgroups where opportunities do not already exist (Youngpeople, disadvantaged, females, Travellers,unemployed, ethnic minorities)<strong>Special</strong> projects/initiatives that cater for people withdisabilities<strong>Project</strong>s which reflect a wide geographical spread<strong>Project</strong>s which provide for a significant number ofparticipants (mass participation).Outdoor education/water sport projects for youngpeople from disadvantaged backgroundsNew initiatives/sports clubs promoting participation insport <strong>and</strong> physical activity by groups with lowparticipation ratesPerformance opportunities for young peopleCapital projectsDay to day club running costs(eg.
