AppliancesPutt<strong>in</strong>g your <strong>appliances</strong> <strong>to</strong> work doesn’t have<strong>to</strong> hit your f<strong>in</strong>ances hard. Here are some <strong>to</strong>ptips on ways <strong>to</strong> use your <strong>appliances</strong> that savemoney and energy…Dishwashers• Make sure your dishwasher is full beforeswitch<strong>in</strong>g it on.• Only use high temperature washprogrammes for really dirty dishes.If your dishwasher has one, use <strong>the</strong>quick wash or eco cycle <strong>to</strong> save onwater and energy.• When buy<strong>in</strong>g a new dishwasher,choose one that’s a suitable sizefor your needs and A-rated forenergy use.• If you’re on <strong>the</strong> Economy 7 tariffand your electricity is cheaper atnight, save money by switch<strong>in</strong>g<strong>the</strong> dishwasher on <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> even<strong>in</strong>g.Fridges and freezers• Position your fridge away from cookers,heaters & radia<strong>to</strong>rs so your fridgedoesn’t have <strong>to</strong> work as hard <strong>to</strong> keepyour food cold.• Never put warm or hot food straight<strong>in</strong><strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> fridge or freezer. This leads <strong>to</strong>a build-up of frost.• Keep <strong>the</strong> door seals <strong>in</strong> good condition.Test <strong>the</strong>m by clos<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> door on a pieceof paper. The door should grip it tightly,so <strong>the</strong> paper doesn’t slide easily.
