February 2010Rebalancing Investment to Meet Global Requirementsfunds provide for joint development of missile launch technologies in support oflongstanding bilateral agreements with the United Kingdom. These RDT&E effortsare critical to meeting required procurement and delivery dates needed to supportthe OHIO replacement program.AVIATION PROGRAMSAircraft Programs<strong>Navy</strong> and Marine Corps aviation continues to provideforward deployed air presence in support of ournational strategy. Positioned to support the jointwarfighter, the FY 2011 budget provides the Departmentwith the best balance of naval aviation requirements.The <strong>Navy</strong>’s aircraft procurement plan continues todecrease the average age of the aircraft inventory. Froma high above 20 years in the 1990’s, the average age hasdecreased to 19.1 years in 2009. Multi‐year aircraftprocurement contracts for MH‐60R/S and MV‐22Bcontinue to provide significant savings and stretchavailable procurement funds. The next MH‐60R/Smission systems and common cockpit multi‐yearprocurement contract starts in FY 2011.
