The Navy RC helicopter footprint in Iraq and theCENTCOM AOR has been continuous since 2003, supporting special operationsground force missions in urban and rural areas, psychological operations, andmedical and casualty evacuations. The FY 2011 request creates the first dedicatedSpecial Operating Forces Helicopter Combat Squadron.Navy reservists are not only ready to support national defense missions, but alsocivil‐military missions such as providing disaster relief, including the Navy’s onlyfire‐fighting capability to the California Department of Forestry. The TacticalSupport Wing (TSW) provides a strategic reserve and operates alongside the ActiveComponent in carrier air wing workups and exercises around the globe androtationally deploys EA‐6B electronic warfare aircraft in support of contingencyoperations. E‐2C Hawkeye Airborne Early Warning aircraft of the TSW deploy sixmonths every year to the SOUTHCOM AOR providing counter‐narcoticsoperations. RC aircrews and maintainers also conduct mine warfare operations inmultiple theaters, train naval aviators, and augment global maritime patroldeployments.The 4th MAW conducts air operations in support of the Fleet Marine Forcesworldwide, in areas including anti‐aircraft warfare, offensive air support, assaultsupport, electronic warfare, aerial reconnaissance, control of aircraft and missiles,and as a collateral function, to participate as an integral component of naval aviationin the execution of such other Navy functions as directed. Marine Corps RChelicopters, KC‐130T refueling tankers, and F/A‐18 strike fighter aircraft have beenactivated and repeatedly deployed around the globe, including Iraq andAfghanistan. The 4th MAW also augments the Marine Corps Active Component by4‐22 FY 2011 Department of the Navy Budget
