To ensure the full readiness of the Carrier Strike Groups (CSGs) andExpeditionary Strike Groups (ESGs), the budget provides the requisite resources totrain, equip, operate and support these forces for extended periods while in harm’sway. Strike groups, along with their associated logistics support forces, are thefoundation of the <strong>Navy</strong>’s ability to apply force as required to achieve missionobjectives. For FY 2011, deployed ship operations are budgeted to maintain readyforces prepared to operate jointly across the full‐spectrum of military activities, and4‐4 FY 2011 Department of the <strong>Navy</strong> <strong>Budget</strong>
