February 2010Integrating Sustained Support for Warfighting Needs• Naval Aircraft. Funds are requested for three Marine Corps AH‐1 attackhelicopters lost in support of OIF/OEF Theater of Operations.Additionally, funds are requested for modifications/upgrades to ensurecapability is preserved, that vital force protection upgrades are installedand for new capabilities to meet operational commanders’ emergingrequirements.• Marine Corps Ground Equipment. Funding is required to continue theprocurement of theater specific equipment for mobility, force protection,survivability information, surveillance and reconnaissance. Procurementdollars also provide reset and long‐term reconstitution funding fordestroyed and worn out equipment, as well as replenishment of artilleryrocket munitions (HIMARS).• <strong>Navy</strong> Ground Equipment. Funds are requested to replace equipment lostin conflict or beyond economic repair, provide for enhanced forceprotection gear, and deliver enhanced counter‐IED equipment to EODunits.• Weapons/Ammunition. Funds are requested to replace weapons andammunition expended during OIF/OEF.• Research. Due to unique in‐theater requirements, funds are requested forNational Intelligence Programs and for the RQ‐7 UAV to incorporate awide‐angle camera to provide support for improved detection of threats.2‐8 FY 2011 Department of the <strong>Navy</strong> <strong>Budget</strong>
