It has been stated that these ong>impactsong> affect poverty and economic growth moderately. ong>Theong> experts explained that these shocks damage aquaculture infrastructure and cause fish loss. This leads to loss ong>ofong> livelihoods ong>ofong> the poor fishermen and decrease nutrition status ong>ofong> the rural poor. Moreover, frequent warnings ong>ofong> cyclone lead the fishermen to stay at home for longer periods and thus their income decreased which increased their poverty level. Besides that, drought, salinity intrusion and erratic behaviour ong>ofong> rainfall affect moderately and as a result poverty and economic growth are also affected moderately. It is noted here that poverty includes only the poor who are dependent on this particular sector. Similarly, the economic growth includes only the growth ong>ofong> this particular sector and not national economic growth. ong>Theong> ong>impactsong> ong>ofong> ong>climateong> ong>changeong> on the fisheries sector will increase the poverty ong>ofong> the particular livelihood group and economic growth ong>ofong> the sector. Severe ong>impactsong> ong>ofong> flood, drought, cyclone and storm surge, sea level rise and salinity intrusion will affect poverty ong>ofong> the livelihood group severely as stated by the key experts ong>ofong> the fisheries sector. Income ong>ofong> the poor, especially who are dependent on fisheries will reduce considerably. Moreover, they will suffer from malnutrition due to reduction ong>ofong> fishing. Economic growth ong>ofong> fisheries sector will also be affected moderately. 7.3.3 Livestock Livestock rearing is an important source ong>ofong> income and livelihood options for the rural poor ong>ofong> the country. Pertinently, the impact ong>ofong> ong>climateong> ong>changeong> on livestock affects the livelihood ong>ofong> the rural poor. It reduces livelihood opportunities, income and employment opportunities ong>ofong> the poor villagers. ong>Theong> experts ong>ofong> livestock sector perceive that severe ong>impactsong> ong>ofong> ong>climateong> ong>changeong> and extremes on livestock affect poverty moderately. But the ong>impactsong> ong>ofong> sea level rise affects poverty and economic growth ong>ofong> this particular sector severely as stated by the key experts. Drought, salinity intrusion and heat wave affect the sector moderately and consequently, both poverty and economic growth are moderately affected. Thus, the ong>impactsong> ong>ofong> ong>climateong> ong>changeong> on livestock affect poverty reduction activities and in attaining the MDGs. It is difficult to have a perception on the ong>impactsong> ong>ofong> ong>climateong> ong>changeong>, variability and extremes on livestock because there is no baseline information on these issues. But it is easily perceived that death and production ong>ofong> livestock will decrease considerably with increasing intensity and frequency ong>ofong> shocks. Production ong>ofong> livelihood will also be hampered due to decrease ong>ofong> grazing lands, increase in death ong>ofong> livestocks etc. ong>Theong>se will lead to decrease in the health status affecting meat and milk production. Livestock rearing is an important source <strong>of</strong> income and livelihood options for the rural poor <strong>of</strong> the country.
Pertinently, the impact <strong>of</strong> <strong>climate</strong> <strong>change</strong> on livestock affects the livelihood <strong>of</strong> the rural poor. key experts. Drought, salinity intrusion and heat wave affect the sector moderately and consequently, both
poverty and economic growth are moderately affected. Thus, the <strong>impacts</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>climate</strong> <strong>change</strong> on livestock affect
