<strong>The</strong>atre history from the Greeks to the Restoration with emphasis on the physical theatre, stage conventions<br />
and theatre architecture <strong>of</strong> each period.<br />
330 DRAMATIC LITERATURE I 3 credits<br />
Prerequisites: 230 or permission <strong>of</strong> instructor. An in-depth exploration <strong>of</strong> stage plays from the<br />
Classical Greek period to 1800, with emphasis on the relationship <strong>of</strong> plays to various cultures.<br />
351 ADVANCED VOICE AND MOVEMENT 3 credits<br />
Prerequisites: 145, 151. Advanced training in movement techniques and vocal work, integrating the<br />
performer’s physical and vocal instrument.<br />
355 STAGE LIGHTING DESIGN 3 credits<br />
Prerequisites: 100, 265. <strong>The</strong> art and technique <strong>of</strong> stage lighting design: light plotting, color theory, and<br />
optical effects.<br />
371 DIRECTING II 3 credits<br />
Prerequisites: 271 and permission. Advanced course in practical techniques <strong>of</strong> staging plays from<br />
major theatrical periods as well as principles <strong>of</strong> working with the actor.<br />

Prerequisite: 172. Continuation <strong>of</strong> 172. Further emphasis on the psychology <strong>of</strong> the actor and development<br />
<strong>of</strong> performing techniques through scene study.<br />

Prerequisite: 373. Further in-depth actor training with emphasis on the language and interpretation <strong>of</strong><br />

A detailed examination <strong>of</strong> representative plays <strong>of</strong> the contemporary theatre with an emphasis on<br />
plays <strong>of</strong> the 1980s and 1990s.<br />

Prerequisite: upper class standing and permission from the theatre advisor. A forum to develop pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
skills to make the transition to a theatre career: artistic, academic, business and pr<strong>of</strong>essional.<br />

Prerequisites: 172 or permission <strong>of</strong> instructor. A scene study course in analyzing and performing roles<br />
