Prerequisite: 475. A committee <strong>of</strong> full-time faculty reviews portfolio <strong>of</strong> studio work completed in<br />

Prerequisite: 475. Advanced level lecture, studio, and lab experience in color photography introducing<br />

Prerequisites: 475 and 318 or 320. Students confront the business and marketing practices<br />

unique to the commercial photography industry while producing a photographically oriented selfpromotional<br />

Prerequisite: 388. Course focusing on pr<strong>of</strong>essional business practices. Students chosen by portfolio<br />

review in junior year. Practical experience gained through working with clients and outside sources.<br />

482 CORPORATE IDENTITY AND GRAPHIC SYSTEMS 3 credits<br />

Prerequisite: 384 and 388. Advanced projects in corporate identity, graphic systems analysis,<br />

design. Problem solving for these specific areas <strong>of</strong> graphic design within mechanical limitations<br />

<strong>of</strong> art reproduction.<br />

483 GRAPHIC DESIGN PRESENTATION 3 credits<br />

Prerequisite: 482. Students prepare a pr<strong>of</strong>essional portfolio and resume. <strong>The</strong> course includes project<br />

development, portfolio review and exhibition.<br />

484 ILLUSTRATION 3 credits<br />

Prerequisite: 283 or permission <strong>of</strong> instructor. Application <strong>of</strong> painting and drawing skills and aesthetic<br />

sensitivity to specific commercial illustration and editorial art assignments. (May be repeated<br />

(May be repeated for a total <strong>of</strong> nine credits) Prerequisite: 484 or permission <strong>of</strong> instructor.<br />

Advanced projects designed to tune student’s personal aesthetic to communicative imagery. A<br />

more individual approach to design. Drawing and painting emphasized as is experimentation<br />

with multimedia.<br />

486 INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA DEVELOPMENT 3 credits<br />

Prerequisite: 383. Utilizing two- and three-dimensional computer imagery, animation, video and<br />

audio, students will plan, develop and evaluate multimedia presentations, emphasizing scripting,<br />

sequencing and interactivity. (May be repeated for a total <strong>of</strong> 6 credits.)<br />

487 PACKAGING DESIGN 3 credits<br />

Prerequisite: 482. Synthesis <strong>of</strong> two- and three-dimensional visual thinking. Research in materials<br />

applicable to packaging <strong>of</strong> various products. Assignment <strong>of</strong> projects stressing development <strong>of</strong><br />

conventional and experimental package design.<br />

488 TYPOGRAPHY 4 3 credits<br />

Prerequisite: 387. Senior level investigation <strong>of</strong> publication design, promotional brochures, and annual<br />

reports from concept to presentation. Focus on good concepts and problem-solving design.<br />
