Certificate Program in Materials<br />

Testing Technology<br />

<strong>The</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> the certificate program in Materials Testing is to train individuals in<br />

the processes and procedures involved in standardized laboratory testing <strong>of</strong> construction<br />

related materials. <strong>The</strong> certificate program requirements may be completed<br />

without completing other degree requirements. Students working toward<br />

an A.A.S. degree in Construction Engineering Technology or a B.S. degree in<br />

Construction Engineering Technology may complete the necessary course work<br />

to complete the certificate requirements. Courses completed for the certificate in<br />

addition to the initial degree requirements may count as technical electives for<br />

the chosen degree.<br />

Building Technology<br />

Requirements<br />

A minimum <strong>of</strong> 15 hours is required.<br />

<strong>The</strong> certificate program in Residential Building Technology is aimed at providing<br />

knowledge and skills to anyone planning to work in the building construction industry.<br />

This certificate program may be earned independently <strong>of</strong> earning a degree. All<br />

course work can be applied to an A.A.S. degree or a B.S. degree in Construction<br />

Engineering Technology.<br />

CRIMINAL JUSTICE<br />

Requirements<br />

<strong>The</strong> program specified is designed to provide background, pr<strong>of</strong>iciency and updating<br />

in the criminal justice area and the private security industry. While many pr<strong>of</strong>essionals<br />

have completed a degree, many more would benefit by this type <strong>of</strong><br />

approach. <strong>The</strong> designed program would provide a measure <strong>of</strong> recognition for<br />

those students enrolled and completing the program. <strong>The</strong> program would be continually<br />

monitored and has been included in many localities as an incentive for<br />

promotion, pay increases and lateral movement within the police or security<br />

agency. This certificate may be obtained independent <strong>of</strong> a degree.<br />

students who desire a formal, structured program in a specific area in the field <strong>of</strong><br />

electronics, but, because <strong>of</strong> time or work constraints, are unable to pursue a complete<br />

associate or baccalaureate degree program.<br />
