3400: History<br />
Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts<br />
• <strong>The</strong> General Education requirement and the second year <strong>of</strong> a foreign language<br />
(French, German, Spanish or Russian suggested).<br />
• A minimum <strong>of</strong> 32 credits <strong>of</strong> history, 16 <strong>of</strong> which must be in 300/400-level<br />
courses. A minimum <strong>of</strong> 6 credits in each <strong>of</strong> the three areas <strong>of</strong> course <strong>of</strong>ferings,<br />
(1) United States; (2) Europe; and (3) Ancient/Non-Western/Cross-Cultural; and<br />
3400:310, Historical Methods. With the approval <strong>of</strong> the History Department<br />
Undergraduate advisor, a History major may apply up to 6 credits <strong>of</strong> course<br />
work in related disciplines (cognate courses) toward the fulfillment <strong>of</strong> the<br />
History degree requirements.<br />
• Courses in World Civilizations and Humanities in the Western Tradition may<br />
not be used to meet major requirements in History.<br />
