Clinic History and Mission
The clinic is part of the Department of
Counseling, operating on The University
of Akron campus. Since 1986, the clinic
has provided a wide array of counseling
services to the Greater Akron area and
its surrounding communities.
Our Clinic missions are:
» To provide high-quality, low-cost mental
health services to the Greater Akron area.
• Counseling services are provided to
individuals of all ages, couples, families
and/or groups.
» To provide state-of-the-art, graduate-level
training in mental health care.
• Under the supervision of qualified faculty
members, graduate students receive a
broad range of mental health training
experiences, including assessment and
evaluation, clinical diagnosis, treatment
planning, case consultation and diverse
approaches to counseling/therapy.
Counseling services include,
but are not limited to:
» Communication and relationship
improvement
» Depression and anxiety
» Premarital and couples counseling
» Family development and
parenting skills
» Career exploration and planning
» Academic improvement for children/
adolescents
» Resolution of grief/loss
» Anger management
» Stress reduction and relaxation
» LGBT and lifestyle empowerment
and advocacy
» Self-esteem and self-confidence
building
» Personal understanding and growth

$20,000 and under $5.00
$20,001 - $30,000 $10.00
$30,001 - $40,000 $15.00
$40,001 - $50,000 $20.00
$50,001 and above $25.00
» No client will be denied services because of an inability to
pay fees. Group counseling fees are standard (not based
on a sliding scale) and depend on the type of group.
