Honorary Masters of Commerce, <strong>Cork</strong> businesswomen Claire Nash<br />
(Nash 19) and Kay Harte (Farmgate Restaurant)<br />
The Honourable Justice Francis Murphy, former Supreme<br />
Court Judge, was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in recognition<br />
of his contribution to commercial law in Ireland and, in particular,<br />
in recognition of his chairing of the Ferns Enquiry<br />
Claire Nash (Nash 19) and Kay Harte (Farmgate Restaurant)<br />
both received Honorary Degrees of Masters of Commerce for<br />
their business achievements in <strong>Cork</strong>.<br />
Professor David Gwynn Morgan (Law) has been confirmed by<br />
UCC’s Governing Body as Professor Emeritus<br />
Professor Connell Fanning (Economics) was awarded an<br />
Honorary Professorship from Guilin <strong>University</strong> of Electronic<br />
Technology in recognition of achievements in MBA teaching<br />
Professor Frédéric Adam (AFIS) was awarded the <strong>2010</strong> IFIP<br />
Outstanding Service Award by the International Federation for<br />
Information Processing (IFIP) Technical Committee 8. Professor<br />
Adam was also appointed Visiting Research Scholar (<strong>2009</strong>-2011)<br />
at the School of Economics and Management, Lund <strong>University</strong>,<br />
Sweden. He was elected Chair of Working Group 8.3 on Decision<br />
Support Systems of the International Federation for IFIP in July<br />
<strong>2010</strong>. Professor Adam was also appointed Head of Graduate<br />
School in the <strong>College</strong> of Business and Law, commencing in 2011<br />
Dr Joan Buckley, S. Field and M. Murphy (M&M) won a prize<br />
for their research paper The effectiveness of a poster campaign<br />
promoting a free skin cancer screening clinic and assessment<br />
of attitudes and knowledge of Irish males over 50 years on<br />
skin cancer, at the Irish Association of Dermatologists Annual<br />
Conference (April <strong>2010</strong>)<br />
Dr Louise Crowley and Dr Aisling Parkes (Law) successfully<br />
completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning<br />
<strong>2009</strong>/<strong>2010</strong><br />
Dr John Doran (AFIS) was awarded the President’s Award for<br />
Excellence in Teaching (November <strong>2010</strong>)<br />
Dr Declan Jordan (Economics) has been elected Secretary of<br />
the Regional Science Association International – British and<br />
Irish Section in <strong>2010</strong>.<br />
Ms Carol Kelleher (M&M) received a PhD Scholarship from the<br />
organisers of FMM <strong>2010</strong> to present a paper, A phenomenological<br />
approach to the study of markets, Helkkula, A. & Kelleher, C.<br />
(<strong>2010</strong>), at the FMM <strong>2010</strong> The Forum on Markets and Marketing:<br />
Extending Service-Dominant Logic, <strong>University</strong> of Cambridge<br />
UK, September <strong>2010</strong>.<br />
Dr Siobhán Mullally (Law) was awarded a Fulbright Scholar<br />
award to Columbia Law School, NY, and Temple Law School,<br />
Philadelphia, for the academic year <strong>2009</strong>/<strong>2010</strong>. Siobhán was<br />
working on an IRCHSS-funded project on gender, multiculturalism<br />
and human rights.<br />
Dr Brian O’Flaherty (AFIS) was awarded the Academic Award<br />
for Outstanding Contribution to Entrepreneurship Education in<br />
Irish Third-Level Institutions at the Student Enterprise Awards<br />
<strong>2010</strong>.<br />
Claire O’Sullivan Rochford (AFIS) was awarded a distinction by<br />
Chartered Accountants Ireland for the completion of a Diploma in<br />
International Financial Reporting Standards (September <strong>2010</strong>).<br />
Dr Fidelma White and Dr Louise Crowley, (Law) have been<br />
awarded the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching<br />
(<strong>2009</strong>/<strong>2010</strong>) in their roles as co-Directors and Lecturers on the<br />
eLaw Summer Institute.<br />
