Technical Data SheetLOCTITE ® 480December-2009PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONLOCTITE ® 480 provides the following productcharacteristics:TechnologyCyanoacrylateChemical Type Ethyl cyanoacrylateAppearance (uncured) Black liquid LMSComponentsOne part - requires no mixingViscosityLowCureHumidityApplicationBondingKey Substrates Metals, Plastics and RubbersLOCTITE ® 480 is a rubber toughened adhesive withincreased flexibility and peel strength along with enhancedresistance to shock.NSF InternationalCertified to ANSI/NSF Standard 61 for use in commercial andresidential potable water systems not exceeding 82° C. Note:This is a regional approval. Please contact your local TechnicalService Center for more information and clarification.TYPICAL PROPERTIES OF UNCURED MATERIALSpecific Gravity @ 25 °C 1.05Flash Point - See MSDSViscosity, Cone & Plate, mPa·s (cP):Temperature: 25 °C, Shear Rate: 1,000 s -1 100 to 200 LMSViscosity, Brookfield - LVF, 25 °C, mPa·s (cP):Spindle 1, speed 6 rpm 100 to 200TYPICAL CURING PERFORMANCEUnder normal conditions, the atmospheric moisture initiates thecuring process. Although full functional strength is developedin a relatively short time, curing continues for at least 24 hoursbefore full chemical/solvent resistance is developed.Cure Speed vs. SubstrateThe rate of cure will depend on the substrate used. The tablebelow shows the fixture time achieved on different materialsat 22 °C / 50 % relative humidity. This is defined as the time todevelop a shear strength of 0.1 N/mm².Fixture Time, seconds:Steel (degreased) 60 to 120Aluminum 10 to 30Zinc dichromate 50 to 150Neoprene
