Develop, maintain, and coordinate programs to facilitate an increased number <strong>of</strong> credentialand master’s students and to assist in meeting student needs and retention <strong>of</strong> students.In consultation with the Faculty <strong>Director</strong> and the <strong>Director</strong> <strong>of</strong> Student Affairs, developadmissions policies and procedures and determine qualifications for admission to teachereducation programs.Manage the admissions process for credential and master’s programs, including evaluatingadmissions files, interviewing applicants, giving full consideration to issues related todiversity and equal opportunity, and recommending students for admissions to the Faculty<strong>Director</strong>.Develop a retention plan that will assist all students in completing credential and master’sprograms.Collaborate with program faculty, staff, and campus units such as the Financial Aid Office todevelop proactive student assistance plans in the areas <strong>of</strong> part-time enrollment, financialneeds, passage <strong>of</strong> state-required exams, remediation <strong>of</strong> skills, academic and personalcounseling, and the creation <strong>of</strong> individual assistance plans as needed to retain students.With Credential Program Coordinators, monitor evaluations <strong>of</strong> student teachers by methodsadvisors and mentor teachers, and take appropriate actions when required. Recommend andcoordinate the dismissal <strong>of</strong> students from credential programs if necessary.Verify the final eligibility <strong>of</strong> candidates for credentialing by signing <strong>of</strong>f on all credentialapplications.Review and resolve student grievances and/or school site concerns regarding teachereducation programs.4. Program AssessmentPlan and coordinate all <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Education</strong> activities related to accreditation requirementsmandated by the California Commission on <strong>Teacher</strong> Credentialing (CCTC). Ensure requireddata are collected and maintained as part <strong>of</strong> ongoing regular program operations.In collaboration with program faculty and staff in the <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Education</strong> and UniversityExtension, write program documents and prepare reports to meet CTCC requirements.Respond to CTCC questions and implement program and curriculum changes recommendedby reviewers.Partner with the Faculty <strong>Director</strong>, Senate and non-Senate faculty, and appropriateadministrators to review and evaluate programs in regard to legal compliance with theregulations and standards <strong>of</strong> the California Commission on <strong>Teacher</strong> Credentialing (CCTC),as well as the academic expectations <strong>of</strong> the University, the needs <strong>of</strong> the constituency area,and budgetary constraints.
