Collaborate with faculty across UC Irvine schools to develop and strengthen innovativepathways for teacher preparation.Analyze and interpret pertinent state laws and regulations as related to teacher licensure andcredentialing. Appropriately communicate with key stakeholders.Take a leadership role to develop new programs and write program documents to complywith legislation that requires program changes.Collaborate with program faculty, staff, campus-wide schools and UCI school districtpartners to create high quality programs that reflect the UC mission for teacher preparation,that meet the needs of all of our students and K-12 school districts.Upon request, teach and/or make presentations to maintain teaching and supervisoryexpertise, communication and connection with credential candidates.Oversee articulation agreements with community colleges for Education courses andprograms.Expand the existing UCI/School Partnerships model by identifying additional school districtsand schools to meet the increased student teacher and placement needs based on increases inprogram growth.Communicate with K-12 school district superintendents, assistant superintendents, andpersonnel directors to invite their participation and identify partner schools within thedistricts.2. Administrative Management and LeadershipPlan, execute, and evaluate the programs to ensure that short- and long-term goals are metand credentialing standards are upheld according to University and State guidelines. Advisefaculty and other program administrators on significant aspects of program curriculum andpolicies. Serve in a leadership role with all credential programs, including those within theSchool of Education and those in other units on campus such as University Extension.Provide a coordinated, strategic schedule of classes for all teacher education programs,following UCI and School policies, procedures, and timelines.Ensure the course schedule for teacher education programs is developed to best meet theneeds of students and to maximize School resources.Plan and coordinate budget for full-time and part-time program faculty recruitment, classassignments, and program faculty work loads in collaboration with the Faculty Director.Recruit and recommend new full-time and part-time lecturers to meet current and futureneeds in the teacher education programs. Review and recommend appropriate salary rates
for new full-time and part-time lecturers. Review and recommend levels of stipends paid toK-12 districts for their involvement in the training of student teachers.Supervise, evaluate, and provide effective leadership for program coordinators and facultyteaching in teacher education programs.Take a primary role to lead and participate in Teacher Education faculty meetings andprofessional development activities.Coordinate, monitor, and continuously assess the placement of student teachers and internteachers. Oversee candidate placement support activities and respond to school site requestsfor information regarding applicants, available positions, and anticipated needs. Visit partnerschool sites on a regular basis and as needed.Oversee multiple- and single-subject coordinators’ school site visits, as well as thoseconducted by supervisors of teacher education, during fieldwork and student teaching.Provide leadership to and collaborate with program faculty to enhance the professionaldevelopment of mentor teachers.Partner with the Faculty Director, other program directors, Director of Student Affairs, andAssistant Dean to develop and maintain a strategic plan for utilizing financial aid as a tool forenrollment management.Ensure public information (web, catalogue, marketing, etc.) is maintained and producedaccording to best practices and University guidelines.Participate in the School’s Teacher Education Steering Committee, Directors group, andother School committees and task forces; the statewide Deans and Directors group; as well asother administrative posts assigned by the Faculty Director.Actively participate in regional and statewide meetings related to teacher education andpublic policy as requested, and share pertinent information with program faculty andadministrators in the School, University Extension, and other units as warranted.Provide reports internally and externally, as appropriate, regarding legislative action items,changes in teacher preparation standards and credential processes, statewide examinationrequirements, and university credential program evaluations.3. Student Recruitment and RetentionCollaborate with the Director of Student Affairs, the Director of Undergraduate Educationprograms, and other senior administrators in the School to promote program growth andstudent recruitment.
