In the comingmonths, I will continue to collect this information asyou become more certain of your final decisions. Itis an exciting time, indeed, but we have not reachedthe finale yet! There are still assessments to completeand exams that loom ahead. The finish line is withinreach, but until then, revise your work, review yournotes, and renew your spirits! Take care of yourselfby eating well and getting a full night’s rest. Takeadvantage of the daylight hours and make productiveuse of your time here at school by seeking teachersupport and working with your peers. Whenever youbegin to feel restless, anxious, or stretched, rememberto look around you. We are all in this together untilthe bittersweet end and the 6th of June will be herebefore you know it!Dear 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th Grade Students,At this point, everyone should have submitted theircourse selections for next year. If you missed thedeadline, you may risk not getting your first choiceclasses. If you had difficulty making your courseselections, please come see me – I am happy to help.As you have observed from our senior class, thecollege planning process is an intricate one. None ofit is difficult, but it may seem as such since it is thefirst time you are consciously making decisions aboutthe rest of your life. There are many details and stepsinvolved. But everything we encounter in life beginswith a first step. So take one.for international students and make sure you registeron-line prior to the deadline. Also check to see ifthe College/University you are planning to applyto requires the SAT II Subject Tests. If these arerequired then it is recommended that you take theseduring the fall semester of your senior year. However,many universities are now allowing you to substitutethe ACT Plus in lieu of the SAT Subject Tests.To register online for the SAT exam or SAT SubjectTests that will be offered here at ISS on Saturday, May4, 2013, go to www.collegeboard.com. Registrationdeadline is April 5, 2013. Spaces are limited andhave filled up in the past. Do not procrastinate!The registration deadline for the April 13, 2013 ACTPlus exam is March 8, 2013. Again, do not delayyour registration in order to secure a seat. Please seeme if you are uncertain about which exam to take.For students interested in applying to study Medicine,Dentistry, or Veterinary medicine in the UK, it isimportant to determine whether you need to takethe BMAT or UKCAT admissions test. Informationcan be found at http://www.admissionstests.cambridgeassessment.org.uk/adt/bmat and http://www.ukcat.ac.uk/. Please make sure to check fordeadlines and exam locations. Reference materials onpreparing for these exams are available in the library.TESTING REMINDERS for 11th gradersIf you are planning to apply to a US, Canadian, orAmerican-style university in Europe, it is stronglyrecommended that you take either, or both, the ACTPLUS or SAT Reasoning Test once this next semesterand once during the first semester of your twelfthgrade year.
