Originally designed to complement the beautiful
homes created by one of Australia’s leading
builders, five new Adesso basins are now
available at your local Tradelink Plumbing
Centre.
Comprising four vanity and one countertop
basins, the new Adesso collection is unique and
contemporary, with timeless curves to suit a range
of installations.
The Serres and Saile are elegant drop in basins
with an enduring organic form, providing a square
and rectangular option, respectively, with softened
rounded edges.
The Ordon drop in basin (pictured above) draws the

With Christmas fast approaching and
holiday road tolls rising, take the time
to brush up on simple driver safety
procedures to ensure a safe arrival at
your holiday destination.
Since 1925 there have been over 125,000 deaths on
Australian roads and numerous non-fatal accidents.
Since 2005, fatal crashes during Christmas/New
Year holiday periods have fluctuated from 48 to 83,
with a total of 66 accidents in 2009.
Despite a 5% increase in total fatal accidents in
2009, there is a steady yet shallow long-term
downward trend evident over the past few years.
Based on 2009 data, road deaths are increasing
in the 40-59 year age group, with the majority
of accidents being single vehicle crashes. 38%
of accidents occurred on the weekend and 42%
occurred at night.
Accidents are likely to be avoided or result in a
casualty rather than a fatality by simply paying more
attention to your surroundings and the job at hand.
Tips such as wearing seatbelts, limiting alcohol
intake and not using mobile phones or devices
while operating any vehicle are obvious but
unfortunately overlooked by some drivers.
Keeping a two second distance between you and
the next vehicle ensures an adequate stopping
distance at any speed. This gap should be doubled
in periods of poor visibility or at night.
This safety gap should even be applied in stop-start
traffic and can be done by ensuring you can clearly
see the bottom of the next vehicle’s rear tyres.

Be cautious when overtaking other cars as
overtaking is one of the most dangerous
manoeuvres a driver can perform; quite often a
vehicle is only travelling slightly slower than you are.
Make sure you have enough room to go well past
the vehicle in front, overtake only one car at a time
and leave enough room to merge back into your
lane without cutting anyone off.
Finally, if you drive with anticipation and expect the
unexpected, other driver’s mistakes will be less
of a surprise. Allowing space for others to merge,
concentrating on your personal driving practices
and planning your trip will ensure you are a safer
motorist this holiday period.

in applications with fan coil units,
chilled beams or other terminal unit
applications, the Frese OPTIMA Compact
Pressure Independent Balancing
& Control valve (PIBCv) provides
modulating control with full authority
regardless of pressure fluctuations.
Combining an externally adjustable automatic
balancing valve, a differential pressure control valve
and a full authority modulating control valve, the
Frese OPTIMA Compact makes it easy to achieve
100% control of water flow in a building, all while
creating high comfort and energy savings.
No further balancing is required if further stages are
added to the system or if the dimensioned capacity is
changed and it can produce energy savings through
optimal control, lower flow and pump pressure.
The clever design of the PIBCV means less time
is required to define the necessary equipment for
a hydraulic balanced system as only flow data is
required.
Another smart design characteristic is that it’s
constructed to the same end-to-end dimensions
as a traditional control valve, making it a perfect
replacement product that adds value to investments
through an improved energy rating and enhancing
the likely-hood of on-going,
high-return tenancy.
Installation is a breeze as
the total number of valves
is minimized due to the 3-in-1 design, and as
such, requires no further regulating valves in the
distribution pipework as long as the Frese OPTIMA
Compact is installed at the terminals.
The PIBCV also boasts reduced commissioning
time due to its automatic balancing of the system
and has no minimum pipe lengths before or after
the valve.
The benefit of an automatically balanced system
means overflows are eliminated, regardless of
fluctuating pressure conditions in the system.
Frese OPTIMA Compact valves are constructed
of DZR brass and are available in sizes DN10-
DN20. The broad differential pressure range of
up to 400kPa and temperature range of 0-120°C
highlights the versatility of this ‘must-have’ valve for
both heating and cooling systems alike.

Since its inception in 2005, Apricus
Australia has taken the solar thermal
market by storm and already represents

Providing hot water to countless Australian homes,
Adventist Aged Care Villages and Sydney’s Novotel

benefits provided by evacuated tubes, combined

The integration of thick glass wool insulation and
