In 1998, Coimbatore saw riots <strong>and</strong> violence in wake of bomb blasts <strong>on</strong> the eve of the visit of the then Home Minister L KAdvani. Unregulated cable broadcasts <strong>and</strong> questi<strong>on</strong>able acts of community magazines resulted in the death of 62 people. The firstauthor worked as a reporter in the Coimbatore editi<strong>on</strong> of Dinamani during the period.
