NGO. The Company <strong>part</strong>icipated in this initiative. <strong>Thomas</strong> <strong>Cook</strong> employees continue to contribute to ‘Give <strong>India</strong>’s Payroll Giving<br />

Program’ across <strong>the</strong> <strong>India</strong>n network as a small way for employees to give back to society. 148 employees have enrolled for this<br />

program and contribute a <strong>part</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir salary each month towards it. Give <strong>India</strong> is a not-for-pr<strong>of</strong>it organization dedicated to help<br />

<strong>the</strong> public donate to credible, transparent NGOs.<br />

15. The Centre <strong>of</strong> Learning, COL, an initiative <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Company to develop talent for <strong>the</strong> organization as well as for <strong>the</strong> industry, has<br />

expanded its reach and has been conducting several prestigious programmes which has helped in creating talent pool for <strong>the</strong><br />

industry at large.<br />

Certificate Course in World Tour Management, CCWTM, a three month <strong>part</strong> time programme, which enables <strong>the</strong> <strong>part</strong>icipant to<br />

join <strong>Thomas</strong> <strong>Cook</strong> (<strong>India</strong>) Limited / o<strong>the</strong>r travel companies as Tour Managers, has been very well received in <strong>the</strong> industry. In <strong>the</strong><br />

year 2011, 57 <strong>part</strong>icipants, enrolled in this programme. 75-80% <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>part</strong>icipants were <strong>of</strong>fered jobs by <strong>the</strong> Company itself. The<br />

remaining got placed in various travel companies as Tour Managers. This programme is a revenue generating model for <strong>Thomas</strong><br />

<strong>Cook</strong> (<strong>India</strong>) Limited as well as a service to <strong>the</strong> industry by creating a talent pool <strong>of</strong> Tour Managers.<br />

IATA Certification in Travel & Tourism – <strong>the</strong> Company has forayed into training students / industry personnel towards obtaining<br />

<strong>the</strong> IATA Certification in Travel & Tourism Management.<br />

The major industry client is Wipro. 2 batches totalling 50 <strong>part</strong>icipants are being trained towards obtaining <strong>the</strong> IATA Certification.<br />

Travel Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Program - A Post Graduate Diploma in Travel & Tourism Management was launched. The 12 month<br />

comprehensive curriculum has a mix <strong>of</strong> classroom training and 3 month internship in <strong>the</strong> organization. Our knowledge <strong>part</strong>ners<br />

are Marriott, Royal Caribbean International, Amadeus, Avis. Students are certified at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> training.<br />

Training on Various Destinations - The Centre <strong>of</strong> Learning has tied up with <strong>the</strong> Fiji Tourism Board, represented by M/s Global<br />

Destinations, to train travel agents on Destination Fiji. This is <strong>the</strong> first step towards upgrading knowledge <strong>of</strong> various tourist<br />

destinations to industry agents.<br />

Centre <strong>of</strong> Learning <strong>part</strong>nered Swiss Tourism to train agents in tier-2 cities on destination Switzerland. 270 agents are trained so<br />

far.<br />

Czech Tourist Authority and Canada Tourist Commission signed MOU with COL for conducting destination trainings for travel<br />

agents pan <strong>India</strong>. First phase completed in 2011.<br />

The Centre <strong>of</strong> Learning has announced a strategic MOU with <strong>India</strong>n Institute <strong>of</strong> Tourism & Travel Management (IITTM) an<br />

autonomous organisation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Ministry <strong>of</strong> Tourism, Government <strong>of</strong> <strong>India</strong>, to <strong>of</strong>fer a 2 year Post Graduate Diploma in Management<br />

(PGDM) in International Tourism Business approved by AICTE and equivalent to MBA has been launched. A premium product, <strong>the</strong><br />

course work includes case based learning and exposure to international business environment. <strong>Thomas</strong> <strong>Cook</strong> (<strong>India</strong>) Limited will<br />

facilitate practical exposure and training.<br />

In an endeavour to promote quality research in <strong>the</strong> travel and tourism sector, <strong>Thomas</strong> <strong>Cook</strong> Centre <strong>of</strong> Learning launched Disha,<br />

a platform which invited research papers in <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> tourism from faculties <strong>of</strong> educational institutions across <strong>India</strong>. After<br />

receiving an overwhelming response, <strong>the</strong> initiative was concluded in a felicitation ceremony on 30th September 2011 where,<br />

Honourable Union Minister <strong>of</strong> Tourism, Shri Subodh Kant Sahai along with Honourable State Minister <strong>of</strong> Tourism, Shri Chhagan<br />

Bhujbal felicitated <strong>the</strong> winning research entries and released a published book “Disha 2011“ with compilation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> top research<br />

papers.<br />

(ii) Internal Policies / Codes adopted:<br />

The Company has devised various internal policies for administering and controlling <strong>the</strong> information being dispersed through<br />

<strong>the</strong> organisational hierarchy. These include <strong>the</strong> Information Systems Security Policy, Policy on Prevention <strong>of</strong> Insider Trading and<br />

Anti Money Laundering Policy. Moreover, <strong>the</strong> Company has formulated a Policy on Ethics and Integrity, which is binding on all <strong>the</strong><br />

employees <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Company.<br />

(a) The Policy on Prevention <strong>of</strong> Insider Trading is based on <strong>the</strong> model Policy devised by SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board <strong>of</strong> <strong>India</strong>)<br />

under SEBI (Prevention <strong>of</strong> Insider Trading) Regulations, 1992, as amended, for all <strong>the</strong> Designated Persons <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Company.<br />

(b) The Policy on Ethics and Integrity puts down in detail <strong>the</strong> ethical values for each and every employee <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> organisation.<br />

(c) The Whistle-Blower Policy has been laid down with an objective to create an environment wherein an employee has easy access<br />

to raising a concern and his identity is also protected.<br />

(d) The Fraud and Theft Policy <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Company states that, if an employee believes that a fraud or <strong>the</strong>ft or false accounting has<br />

occurred or is likely to occur, he / she needs to immediately inform his or her line manager irrespective <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ft or<br />

fraud involved. Each line manager who is informed <strong>of</strong> such an incident or event must immediately inform in writing to his / her<br />

Reporting Manager, <strong>the</strong> President & Head – Legal & Company Secretary and to <strong>the</strong> Head – BPIA.<br />

(e) The Information Systems Security Policy provides lays down framework and guidelines governing <strong>the</strong> usage <strong>of</strong> Information<br />

Technology in <strong>the</strong> organisation. Significant changes taking place in <strong>the</strong> Information Systems and /or Technology that would<br />

affect <strong>the</strong> security and control perspective favourably / adversely and on any significant breaches <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> security / security policy<br />

are monitored under this Policy. A Committee (Information Systems Security Committee) has overall responsibility for all areas<br />

concerning IT security.
