18 DER FUEHRERThe Bolshcviki exterminated the Jewish bourgeoisie of Russia asheartlessly as the Christian; from time to time some little Jewishcommunity cursed and excommunicated a Bolshevik leader who arosein its midst; for Rosenberg, however, Russia was ruled by the JewishAntichrist which Nilus had prophesied. Rosenberg himself has a littledrop of Jewish blood in his veins; let us assume that he did not know itat the time. The world in which his great experiences took place remainsin any case Russia. It was there that he met the demon. It was there thatthe dice governing the destiny of nations were falling. There theAntichrist held sway over a field of corpses. From there the plague wasmoving on Europe. It was on Russia that we should march, when thetime came, to tumble Satan from his throne. Our life work was tosummon Europe to avenge our exile. For at the end of 1918, Rosenberg was forced to leave Reval with theremnants of the withdrawing, disbanding German army. The Bolshevikipressed after them, occupied Reval, took Riga, approached the Germanborder. He fled from them, crying: The plague is coming! An infectedarmy, on the point of mutiny, flowed homeward, carrying him along. Thus he left Russia, came to Germany, bearing with him a treasure, themessage of the Russian Antichrist, the Protocols. In a swarm of Russianfugitives, officers, intellectuals, barons and princes, Rosenberg reachedBerlin, then Munich. At the same time other refugees reached Constantinople,London, Paris; Russians, Germans, but also Englishmen,Frenchmen, even Americans, members of those Allied expeditionaryarmies who, after the outbreak of the Bolshevik revolution, hadoccupied, for a time, Russian territory in Siberia, in the North, in theCrimea. And with this flow of fugitives not a few copies of theProtocols reached Western Europe.A pity that General Ratchkovsky never lived to see the day. Theshadow of Russia fell over Europe. From the Kremlin, Lenin exhortedthe world to revolution, holding aloft the Communist Manifesto.Rosenberg comes, a humble fugitive, with the textbook of worlddomination in his battered suitcase.
