BUSINESSKPMI posts 15% rise in 1Q profitsSubic Shipyard is one of three shipyardsoperated by KPMI<strong>Keppel</strong> <strong>Marine</strong> Philippines, Inc(KPMI), a subsidiary of <strong>Keppel</strong>O&M, reported a consolidated netprofit of P185.2 million in the firstquarter of <strong>2010</strong>, 15.3% higher thana year ago.Its revenue for the periodamounted to P495.7 million, whileoperating profit was 63.2% highercompared with the same periodlast year, reaching P131 million,due to higher margins and loweroperating costs.Shiprepair contributed 81.5% tototal sales while shipbuilding andfabrication contributed 18.5%.For the second quarter of <strong>2010</strong>,KPMI expects more vessels fromthe domestic market to visit itsshipyards for major repair works.KPMI, comprising <strong>Keppel</strong> BatangasShipyard and Subic Shipyard &Engineering, Inc., serves domesticand international ship owners.Safety rewardsFor clocking eight million incidentfreemanhours during theconstruction of semisubmersiblerig, Maersk Deliverer, MaerskDrilling has awarded a safetybonus of $48,000 to <strong>Keppel</strong> FELS.Maersk Deliverer is the latestaddition to the trio of DSS TM21 deepwater semisubmersibledrilling rigs built by <strong>Keppel</strong> FELSfor Maersk Drilling. The unit wasdelivered 43 days early in Aprilthis year.<strong>Keppel</strong> FELS’s Project Manager forthe rig, Yeong Yew Ming said, “Inthe months spent building MaerskDeliverer, both our project teamshave always placed the utmostpriority on safety.
