BUSINESSChampions for green practices<strong>Keppel</strong> FELS was among 49Founding Partners which havepledged to drive energy efficiencyin Singapore.The Energy Efficiency NationalPartnership (EENP) programmewas launched on 29 April <strong>2010</strong> bythe National Environment Agency(NEA), Energy Market Authorityand Economic Development Board.The voluntary public-private sectorinitiative aims to help companiesadopt energy productivityimprovement projects at theorganisational level to minimisewastage.CH Tong, CEO of <strong>Keppel</strong> O&M,said, “We are always looking forways to enhance energy efficiencyin our operations. By doing so, wehave been able to become morecost-effective and add greatervalue to our business, at the sametime reduce our carbon footprint.“We are very enthusiastic aboutbeing a Founding Partner ofEENP, to help advance Singapore’ssustainable developmentblueprint as well as to step upour continuous efforts to adoptbest practices.”The manufacturing industry, withsectors like petroleum refining,petrochemical, electronics andpharmaceuticals, accounts foralmost 60% of total energyconsumption and has thepotential to maintain economiccompetitiveness by adoptingenergy efficient solutions.Other Founding Partners include3M Singapore, GlaxoSmithKline,Pfizer Asia Pacific, Shell EasternPetroleum and <strong>Keppel</strong> Digihub.EENP partners will be expectedto work towards the adoption ofan Energy Management System,where each company will appointan energy manager, establishobjectives and targets, developenergy policies and implementenergy efficiency projects to meetthese targets.Partners can look forward topreferential rates for EENP learningevents and benefit from NEA’sincentive schemes.
