BUSINESSSafety all the way<strong>Keppel</strong> O&M management and workers pledge their commitment for a strong safety cultureLending a safety handPlaying its part to promote safetybeyond its workplace, <strong>Keppel</strong> O&Msupported the National WorkplaceSafety & Health (NWSH) campaign<strong>2010</strong> by actively participating invarious competitions.Spanning three months, thecampaign was launched on 29 April<strong>2010</strong> by Minister for Manpower,Gan Kim Yong. This year’s campaignslogan “Safety is in my hands”aims to change mindset, and builda strong safety culture across thedifferent industries in Singapore.This is the third year that <strong>Keppel</strong>is supporting the National safetyefforts with a contribution of$100,000. Taking the lead,senior management from<strong>Keppel</strong> came together to pledgetheir commitment to safetythrough a video.From the over 800 entries in thisyear’s competition, Kenny Xu, anengineer (Mechanical/Machinery)from <strong>Keppel</strong> Singmarine won thesilver award for the Short Video/Film segment.SUSTAINING BEST PRACTICESThis year’s HSE Excellencepromotion campaign at <strong>Keppel</strong>FELS focused on remindingeveryone to work safely at heights.To reinforce the message, thecommittee adopted the slogan– G.U.A.R.D.S. – which in shortstands for “Go Up And ReturnDown Safely”.At the opening ceremony,CH Tong, CEO of <strong>Keppel</strong> O&Mencouraged staff, contractorsand customers to join hands with<strong>Keppel</strong> FELS in striving towards asafe and healthy workplace for allas “sustained improvements in HSErequire strong commitment fromeveryone”.Innovative rewardsAt <strong>Keppel</strong> Shipyard, 11 teamspresented ideas on ways to savelives and prevent workplaceinjuries at its annual SafetyInnovation Team convention on11 <strong>May</strong> <strong>2010</strong>.Team ‘E’ Star from Alpine’s electricaldepartment win the gold awardfor their project “Improving MultiCable Transit and Cable CoamingInstallation” which significantlyreduced the installation time andexposure to hazards.16<strong>Offshore</strong><strong>Marine</strong> <strong>May</strong> – <strong>June</strong> <strong>2010</strong>
