BUSINESSKudos to excellent service<strong>Keppel</strong> FELS continues to add to itsreputation as the trusted offshorerig repair and upgrading specialistworldwide.Songa Mercur has returned toexploration work off SakhalinIsland, following the on-time,on-budget completion of specialperiodic survey (SPS) works.The semisubmersible rig, belongingto Norwegian driller Songa<strong>Offshore</strong>, departed Singapore on11 <strong>May</strong> <strong>2010</strong>.Trond Christensen, COO of Songa<strong>Offshore</strong>, commended the projectteams, saying, “Thanks for a safeand efficient SPS and operationalpreparedness work carried out onSonga Mercur.“The massive job and tasksundertaken have been carried outto highest standards, exceedingour expectations and we are verypleased to see that the rig leavethe yard in good condition, readyfor the next five years of service.”Songa Mercur underwent safe and efficientinspection and maintenance works at<strong>Keppel</strong> FELSLaunching into actionIt was a milestone occasion forthe employees and customers of<strong>Keppel</strong> Singmarine, who gatheredto celebrate the launch of aMulti-Purpose Supply andSupport Vessel (MPSSV), H344,on 15 <strong>May</strong> <strong>2010</strong>.Amid favourable weather, thevessel slided gracefully into thewaters, along the 180-metre longslipway at <strong>Keppel</strong> Singmarine.<strong>Keppel</strong> Singmarine celebrated the successful launch of H344, the fourth state-of-the-artvessel it is building for GreatshipConstructed for GreatshipGlobal <strong>Offshore</strong> Services Pte. Ltd(Greatship), a member of the GreatEastern Shipping Group of India,H344 is expected to be deliveredby third quarter <strong>2010</strong>.Hoe Eng Hock, ED of <strong>Keppel</strong>Singmarine, said, “We are proudto be building the fourth state-ofthe-artvessel for Greatship, whichwill be a powerful addition totheir fleet. With our expertise andcommitment to deliver this finevessel, we look forward to manymore milestones to be achieved inthe months ahead.”This 94-metre long vessel hasbeen equipped with two unitsof electrically driven 2600KWAzimuth thrusters and three unitsof 1050KW tunnel thrusters toachieve a Dynamic Positioning IIcapability.<strong>Offshore</strong><strong>Marine</strong> <strong>May</strong> – <strong>June</strong> <strong>2010</strong>11
