Bodywork <strong>and</strong> fittings 11•1942.1 A-pillar trim retaining screw (A),heated windscreen live wire (B) <strong>and</strong> heatedwindscreen earth wire (C)42 Interior trim panels -removal <strong>and</strong> refitting 2A-pillar trimRemoval1 Remove the securing screw from the trimpanel, located near to the windscreen topcorner (see illustration).2 Detach the door aperture weatherseal fromaround the trim panel, then pull the trim panelfrom the pillar.Refitting3 To refit, align the trim fixing lugs to the pillar<strong>and</strong> press into position. Refit the securingscrew then push the door apertureweatherseal back onto its flange.B-pillar trimRemoval4 Remove the front seat belt height adjusterknob, as applicable, by inserting a smallscrewdriver into the aperture on the undersideof the knob <strong>and</strong> levering it off.5 Remove the upper seat belt anchor boltcover, <strong>and</strong> remove the bolt, as required.6 Open the doors <strong>and</strong> detach the dooraperture weatherstrip from the area aroundthe B-pillar trim.42.23 B-pillar trim being removed toexpose seat belt removal/refitting slot insill scuff plate (arrowed)42.11 C-pillar trim fixingsA Screw locationsB Parcel shelf support/rear loudspeakerhousing location7 Remove the securing screws <strong>and</strong> detachthe trim.Refitting8 Refitting is the reverse sequence toremoval, tightening the seat belt anchor boltto the specified torque. Ensure that theanchor is free to rotate.C-pillar trimRemoval9 Open the tailgate, then detach theloudspeaker from its location bydisconnecting its multi-plug connection,removing its two retaining screws <strong>and</strong>unhinging it.10 Detach the tailgate weatherstrip from itsflange, around the trim panel.11 Remove the parcel shelf, then slacken theparcel shelf support/rear loudspeaker housingretaining screws, <strong>and</strong> remove the single screwfrom the base of the C-pillar trim (seeillustration).12 Remove the upper seat belt anchor boltcover, <strong>and</strong> remove the bolt <strong>and</strong> anchor, notingany spacer fitment.13 Remove the screw(s) from the top of theC-pillar trim, then remove the trim from thevehicle.Refitting14 To refit, position the base of the trim42.29 Seat belt lower slide bar anchorarrangement (three-door models)A Bush location B Anchor boltbehind the parcel shelf support/rearloudspeaker housing, then loosely refit theupper <strong>and</strong> lower securing screws.15 Refit the seat belt anchor, bolt, <strong>and</strong>spacer, as applicable, tightening the bolt tothe specified torque. Refit the anchor boltcover, <strong>and</strong> ensure that the anchor is free torotate.16 Tighten the trim <strong>and</strong> parcel shelfsupport/rear loudspeaker housing screws,then refit the parcel shelf.17 Refit the loudspeaker by reversing themethod of removal, then press the tailgateweatherstrip back into place.Sill scuff plateRemoval18 Remove the front seat adjacent to thescuff plate to be removed (see Section 39).19 Detach the door aperture weatherstrip(s)from around the scuff plate location.20 Remove the B-pillar trim, as applicable.21 Remove the lower seat belt anchor bolt onfive-door models, <strong>and</strong> detach the anchor fromits location.22 On three-door models, remove the boltsecuring the forward end of the seat belt slidebar, then manoeuvre the slide bar to free itfrom its rear location.23 Remove the plastic screws securing thesill scuff plate, then slip the seat belt throughits slot on five-door models, <strong>and</strong> remove thesill scuff plate from the vehicle (seeillustration). Should the soft plastic screwsround off during attempts to remove them,force an electrician’s thin screwdriver into thebody of the screw <strong>and</strong> try again, fitting a newscrew upon reassembly.Refitting24 Refitting is a reversal of the removalprocedure, tightening the seat belt anchorbolts to the specified torque.Rear quarter trim panelRemoval25 Detach the door aperture weatherstripfrom around the trim location.26 Remove the rear seat cushion, asdescribed in Section 40.27 Remove the screw from the upper rearcorner of the trim panel.28 Remove the plastic stud from the lowerrear corner of the trim panel.29 Detach the seat belt slide bar by removingthe bolt from its forward end thenmanoeuvring it to free it from its rear location(see illustration). Remove the seat belt fromthe slide bar.30 Release the trim clips from the front <strong>and</strong>top edges of the panel using a trim clip tool.This may be achieved by carefully insertingtwo thin flat-bladed screwdrivers between thepanel <strong>and</strong> the body - one each side of the clipbeing released, <strong>and</strong> applying gentle leverage,if a trim clip tool is not available.111595Ford Fiesta Remake
