Where a crimped type hose clip is fitted,cut it free, taking care not to damage the hose;a new screw type clip will need to be obtainedto replace the crimped clip during reassembly.7 Disconnect the relevant vacuum pipes fromthe carburettor. As they are detached, labelthem to ensure correct reassembly.8 Unscrew and remove the four Torx-typeretaining screws, and carefully lift clear thecarburettor from the inlet manifold (seeillustration). Remove the gasket.Refitting9 Clean the carburettor and the inlet manifoldmating faces.10 Refit the carburettor in the reverse order ofremoval, ensuring that a new gasket is fitted.11 If they are perished or were damagedduring removal, renew the fuel and/or vacuumhoses.12 Reconnect the automatic choke unithoses, and then check/top-up the coolingsystem if required, as described in “WeeklyChecks” and Chapter 1.13 When the battery is reconnected, startand warm up the engine then check the idlespeed and mixture settings as described inChapter 1.A Emulsion tubesB Air correction jetsC Automatic chokeassemblyD Choke pull-downdiaphragm36.1a Exploded view of the carburettor (Weber TLD)E Main jetsFSecondary barreldiaphragm assemblyG Power valve diaphragmH Accelerator pumpdiaphragm36 Carburettor (Weber TLD) -dismantling, cleaning,inspection and reassembly4Proceed as described in Section 24, butrefer to the appropriate illustrations for theTLD carburettor (see illustrations). Thefollowing should also be observed:a) When refitting the idle mixture adjustmentscrew, make the initial adjustment byscrewing it fully into position (withoutovertightening it), then unscrewing it bythree full turns.b) Refer to Section 32 to adjust the needlevalve and float.c) When the carburettor is reassembled andrefitted, check and adjust the idle speedand mixture settings as described inChapter 1.J Idle mixture adjustingscrewK Fuel feed filterL Needle valve assemblyM Anti-dieseling (fuel cut-off)solenoid37 Inlet manifold -removal and refitting 4Note: Refer to the warning note in Section 1before proceeding.Removal1 Drain the cooling system as described inChapter 1.2 Remove the carburettor as described in therelevant earlier Sections of this Chapter,according to carburettor type.3 Noting their locations, disconnect thecoolant, vacuum and breather hoses from themanifold.4 Disconnect the wiring multi-plugs from theengine sensors at the inlet manifold.Disconnect the radio earth lead at the inletmanifold connector.5 Undo the retaining bolts, and withdraw themanifold from the cylinder head. Use anew gasket, and tighten the retaining bolts tothe specified torque. Refit the remainder of thecomponents with reference to the appropriateChapters of this manual. On completion,refill the cooling system as described inChapter 1.
