Perception Group(saññá-kkhandha)All perceptions are divided into 6 classes: perception of form, sound, odour, taste, bodilyimpression, and mental impression.IV. Group of Mental Formations(sankhára-kkhandha)This group comprises 50 mental phenomena, of which 11 are general psychological elements, 25lofty (sobhana) qualities, 14 karmically unwholesome qualities. Consciousness Group(viññána-kkhandha)The Suttas divide consciousness, according to the senses, into 6 classes: eye-, ear-, nose-,tongue-, body-, mind-consciousness.The Abhidhamma and commentaries, however, distinguish, from the karmical or moralviewpoint, 89 classes of consciousness. Cf. viññána and Tab. 1.The moral quality of feeling, perception and consciousness is determined by the mentalformations.khandha-parinibbána: s. nibbána.khandha-santána: s. santána.khanti: 'patience', forbearance', is one of the 10 perfections (páramí, q.v.).khayánupassaná: 'contemplation of dissolution', is one of the 18 chief kinds of insight (s. vipassaná).khidda-padosiká devá: 'the celestial beings corruptible by pleasures', are a class of devas (q.v.) of thesensuous sphere. They waste their time in merriment, play and enjoyment, and thereby become thoughtless,and in their thoughtlessness they fall from that world (D. 1; 24).
