The algorithm usesbrightness and motion clues along with a temporal and a contour analysis inwavelet domain. The main contribution of the method is the utilization of hiddenMarkov models trained using temporal wavelet domain information to detectrandom flicker process. The high frequency behavior of flame region boundariesare analyzed using a wavelet based contour analysis technique. The experimentalresults indicate that when the fire falls into the viewing range of an IR camera, the proposed method is successful in detecting the flames without producing false
