Drawing 9442064 – Crankcase SpacerMeasure main tunnel and cam tunnel and record in build sheet5. Disassemble.6. Remove shells and check back contact (must be at least 90%)7. Check mating surface on crankcase8. Remove all blue and thoroughly clean surfaces. Refit bearing shells.1. Hydraulic lifters are replaced at 2000 hours TIS. At lower TIS they may beinspected and re-used as described below. Note: when orderingreplacement lifters ensure that the engine S/No. and overhaul history isknown and quoted to the supplier so that the supplier knows which P/No.camshaft is fitted to the engine. Two different lifter types are available andmust be selected to match the camshaft P/No. of the engine.2. Inspect base of lifters and discard if there is any surface roughness orwear. Polishing from contact with the cam is normal and acceptable.3. Hold a straight edge against the base (working face) of the lifters. The lifterbase must be slightly domed and there will be a visible gap between thestraight edge and the lifter on either side of the base.4. Measure cam lifters and bores and record on build sheet.5. Oil and refit.Note: lifters can also be fitted to cases after case assembly.Check cam shaft end float in both halves.
