A Minute With: Ernie Schmidt www.SpectrumMagazine.net Ernie Schmidt was born in San Francisco. He attended grammar school in Mountain View and graduated from Los Altos High School. He then went on to DeAnza and Foothill community colleges, where he graduated with an AA in administration of justice. Ernie worked part time for the Mountain View Police Department as a cadet. He then entered retail management at Nordstrom and Macy’s. He started working for Tesla Motors in 2009. He moved to Redwood City 12 years ago when he married his wife, Gina. Ernie was appointed to the Planning Commission in 2009 for a four-year term. He is chairman of the Roosevelt Neighborhood Association and a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Latino Community Council of Redwood City, Latino Leadership Council of San Mateo County, Sequoia Awards committee and Redwood City Climate Action Committee. His hobbies include computer gaming and working out at the gym. Increase in building activity in downtown area? Yes. Any project you are excited about? Downtown precise plan. Any plans to run for elected office? Exploring it and won’t discount anything at this time. If you were stuck on a desert island, which one book, movie or person would you want to take along? “The Godfather Part II.” What talent would you most like to have? Singing. Something few know about you? That I was a television actor. What phrase do you most overuse? For real? Last movie you saw? “Transformers.” Favorite restaurant in Redwood City? Milagros. What is your motto? Fidelis (always faithful). Anyone you got on your mind? Gina. Memorable moment? My wedding. You still can’t believe? That she said yes. What is a dream you have or something you’d like to accomplish in your life? To encourage people to be less judgmental. When you die, you want to come back as? Myself. What would life be like if you had wings? I’d be one of the X-Men. Who or what is the love of your life? Gina. At this time next year, you will be? I don’t know where I will be. Jenkins will also man a linebacker spot and Poulos is expecting big things out of Bertero from the defensive end. While Poulos won’t have many players playing both ways full time, most of the players do have positions on both sides of the ball, as well as know a couple positions on either offense or defense. Poulos said one of the team’s strengths “is the fact we’re interchangeable.
