Let’s Talk Solutions
Can ONE project be a catalyst for many existing local and regional
problems, such as meaningful engagement with San Francisco Bay?
At nearly three miles in length, the Saltworks’ Bayside Park would become one of the largest waterfront parks on San Francisco Bay.
As summer comes to a close, many of us are spending more time
outdoors. And what better place in the State of California than
San Francisco Bay.
e San Francisco Bay is a national treasure — a treasure that
should not only be protected but celebrated and appreciated.
Did you know that Redwood City has more linear shoreline than
any other city in San Mateo County? But because of man-made
divides, such as Highway 101, places to directly engage the Bay in
Redwood City (and for the rest of the region for that matter) are
almost non-existent. And that really is too bad.
e Saltworks in Redwood City provides an opportunity to
convert a privately-owned industrial saltmaking site into land that
is publicly accessible on San Francisco Bay.
Not only does the Saltworks proposal include the single-largest
privately funded restoration program in the history of San
The Answer is YES.
Francisco Bay by restoring hundreds of acres into tidal marsh
habitat, it includes a nearly three-mile ‘Bayside Park’ right at the
edge of San Francisco Bay. is Bayside Park would connect a
critical gap in the San Francisco Bay Trail.
is Bayside Park would become one of the largest waterfront
parks on San Francisco Bay and one of the largest parks in
Redwood City. e park would be home to a variety of recreational
and educational amenities where people from all over the region
would come to embrace the Bay and learn more about what makes
the Bay a national treasure.
e Saltworks site, because of its scale and location, alone can
satisfy this important regional need.
But don’t take our word for it. See for yourself. Examine the
facts. Ask for a thorough evaluation of our proposal and the
opportunities — all of the opportunities — presented by the
Saltworks site.
