<strong>Master</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Science</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>Entrepreneurship</strong> and Diploma <strong>in</strong> <strong>Entrepreneurship</strong>The MS and Diploma <strong>in</strong> <strong>Entrepreneurship</strong> aim to develop competent and globally oriented entrepreneurs for smalland medium-sized Philipp<strong>in</strong>e Enterprises. It focuses primarily on the pr<strong>of</strong>essional development needs and skills <strong>of</strong>people who are <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> start up operations <strong>of</strong> new bus<strong>in</strong>ess ventures. These <strong>in</strong>clude (a) identification <strong>of</strong> aconsumer need and the preparation <strong>of</strong> feasibility studies, (b) product plann<strong>in</strong>g and development, (c) pric<strong>in</strong>g, channeland promotions development, and (d) over-all management to play a lead<strong>in</strong>g role <strong>of</strong> an established private orfamily-run bus<strong>in</strong>ess as wells as those who are engaged <strong>in</strong> bus<strong>in</strong>ess partnerships. A subsidiary aim <strong>of</strong> the program isalso to develop academic researchers <strong>in</strong> the dynamic field <strong>of</strong> entrepreneurship.The core <strong>of</strong> the program provides the theoretical and practical tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g required to produce a comprehensive 5-yearbus<strong>in</strong>ess development plan that <strong>in</strong>tegrates market<strong>in</strong>g, organizational behavior, and f<strong>in</strong>ancial plann<strong>in</strong>g. This will use aflexible corporate strategy, the major component <strong>of</strong> the bus<strong>in</strong>ess plan, which can be capable <strong>of</strong> attract<strong>in</strong>g capital andequity <strong>in</strong>vestors, venture capitalists and others. This program also provides pr<strong>of</strong>essional capabilities for managerswith entrepreneurial outlook who wish to generate new ventures under the corporate sett<strong>in</strong>g. Specifically, theprogram aims to enhance the knowledge, skills and values <strong>of</strong> students or entrepreneurship regard<strong>in</strong>g the follow<strong>in</strong>g:1. Excellence <strong>in</strong> enterprise development and management through <strong>in</strong>novative bus<strong>in</strong>ess leadership.2. Management <strong>of</strong> change and new opportunities rather than adm<strong>in</strong>istration <strong>of</strong> established enterprises.3. Attention to <strong>in</strong>tegrat<strong>in</strong>g knowledge through <strong>in</strong>terdiscipl<strong>in</strong>ary approaches rather than separat<strong>in</strong>g knowledge<strong>in</strong>to functional specialties.4. Lead<strong>in</strong>g edge theory to seek practical solutions <strong>of</strong> complex real-world problems.5. Issues fac<strong>in</strong>g entrepreneurs and grow<strong>in</strong>g companies and provid<strong>in</strong>g a set <strong>of</strong> tools for address<strong>in</strong>g thosechallenges.Duration <strong>of</strong> the ProgramThe program normally takes two years (six trimester) on a part-time basis to complete the coursework. ENT500M - Entrepreneurial Statistics3 unitsThis course deals with the use <strong>of</strong> statistical tools and methods <strong>in</strong> bus<strong>in</strong>ess decision-mak<strong>in</strong>g and research. The topics<strong>in</strong>clude descriptive statistics, non-parametric statistical tests, and parametric tests such as regression and correlationwith the aide <strong>of</strong> computer s<strong>of</strong>tware.ENT502M - Entrepreneurial Economics3 unitsThis course covers the study <strong>of</strong> the use <strong>of</strong> economic analysis <strong>in</strong> formulat<strong>in</strong>g bus<strong>in</strong>ess policies. Topics <strong>in</strong>clude pr<strong>of</strong>itmeasurement, demand forecast<strong>in</strong>g, measur<strong>in</strong>g economic effects <strong>of</strong> advertis<strong>in</strong>g, production l<strong>in</strong>e-pric<strong>in</strong>g, cost-pluspric<strong>in</strong>g and capital budget<strong>in</strong>g.ENT521M - Research Methods3 unitsThis course provides the student knowledge and application <strong>of</strong> research skills <strong>in</strong> bus<strong>in</strong>ess sett<strong>in</strong>g. It also <strong>in</strong>volves theuse <strong>of</strong> practical examples and techniques <strong>in</strong> the plann<strong>in</strong>g and implementation <strong>of</strong> the research project.ENT700M - Environmental Analysis and Opportunity Evaluation3 unitsThe focus <strong>of</strong> this subject is how to determ<strong>in</strong>e the difference between ideas and money mak<strong>in</strong>g bus<strong>in</strong>essopportunities. ENT750M - Entrepreneurial Strategy3 unitsThe course focuses on the identification <strong>of</strong> strategy concept and organization concepts <strong>of</strong> the enterprise; recognition<strong>of</strong> how "entrepreneurial" management differs from pr<strong>of</strong>essional management; importance <strong>of</strong> culture <strong>in</strong> anorganization and its effect on venture opportunities. Students will learn how for-pr<strong>of</strong>it and not-pr<strong>of</strong>it organizations are us<strong>in</strong>g market forces by develop<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>novative ventures that specify the environmental product that are desired.ENT850M - Integration Paper (Thesis Equivalent) - The five-year Integrative Bus<strong>in</strong>ess <strong>De</strong>velopment Plan6 unitsThe student will put up his own bus<strong>in</strong>ess and/or focus on his family bus<strong>in</strong>ess with considerable upside potential, andwill develop a plan to make the bus<strong>in</strong>ess grow, and then at least double its present size over the next 5 years. Thebus<strong>in</strong>ess could be a stand-alone company or a bus<strong>in</strong>ess unit with<strong>in</strong> a larger company. Plann<strong>in</strong>g should address all theissues that will be required to transform the bus<strong>in</strong>ess to a larger size.
