Zoning By-law No. 5-1-2001A section <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong>'s Zoning By-law is devoted to zoning agricultural land (A-1). It acknowledges <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> A-1 zoneas preserving land designated in <strong>the</strong> Official Community Plan as "Agricultural/Resource Land" <strong>for</strong> agriculture and related landextensive uses.Permitted uses in <strong>the</strong> Agricultural Zone are limited to <strong>the</strong> following:Agricultural use;Boarders or lodgers to a maximum <strong>of</strong> two persons;Single family residential, including pre-manufactured homes and modular homes;Sand/gravel extraction rescinded;Municipal facilities, including but not limited to, fire halls, public parks and cemeteries;Recreation facility - outdoor; andWildlife and waterfowl reserves.Minimum lot size in <strong>the</strong> Agricultural Zone is 8 ha with a maximum number <strong>of</strong> one dwelling unit per property. The <strong>City</strong>'s priority responsibility is torecognize and value <strong>the</strong> concept <strong>of</strong> food security, through a strong policy framework that recognizes local initiatives and <strong>the</strong>necessary responsibilities <strong>of</strong> senior government. The Social Plan is scheduled <strong>for</strong> review and update in 2013 and will include amore comprehensive urban agriculture component.
