The last column shows <strong>the</strong> CLR.<br />

From this table we can make <strong>the</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g conclusions:<br />

1. CLR vs Throughput: Table 8.1 shows that that CLR is small and has high<br />

variance. CLR does not re ect TCP per<strong>for</strong>mance s<strong>in</strong>ce higher CLR does not<br />

necessarily mean lower TCP throughput. The e ect of cell loss depends not<br />

upon <strong>the</strong> number of cells lost but upon <strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong> number of timeouts. If a large<br />
