<strong>the</strong> source to <strong>in</strong>crease. If <strong>the</strong> current TCRisbelow <strong>the</strong> new TCR, <strong>the</strong> source <strong>in</strong>creases<br />

its rate to <strong>the</strong> new value. However, if <strong>the</strong> current TCR is above <strong>the</strong> new TCR, <strong>the</strong><br />

new value is ignored and no adjustment is done. Figure 5.3 presents a ow chart<br />

5.1.3 The Switch Algorithm<br />

The switch algorithm consists of two parts: measur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> current load level<br />

periodically and calculat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> feedback whenever a control cell is received. The<br />

feedback calculation consists of an algorithm to achieve e ciency and an algorithm<br />
