SecondArgentine Congress <strong>of</strong>Neonatal <strong>Dermatology</strong>(2003)In the month <strong>of</strong> June, the plan to make Pediatric<strong>Dermatology</strong> known in the Argentineprovinces was launched in Tucumán; on the 15 thand 16 th , the First Sessions <strong>of</strong> Pediatric <strong>Dermatology</strong><strong>of</strong> Northwest Argentina took place with thepresence <strong>of</strong> the country’s most outstanding specialistsand a large number <strong>of</strong> participants.Between August 29 and 31, 2002, a majormilestone was achieved, in the auditoriums <strong>of</strong> thePalais Rouge, by the Third Argentine Congress <strong>of</strong>Pediatric <strong>Dermatology</strong>, under the presidency <strong>of</strong>Dr. José Antonio Mássimo, and with the presence<strong>of</strong> Drs. Ernesto Bonifazzi from Italy and AmyNopper from the United States, within a majorframework <strong>of</strong> participants.By that date, the building <strong>of</strong> the associationheadquarters’ second story was completed, and the <strong>of</strong>ficial opening was held on August30, with the presence <strong>of</strong> the foreign guests and <strong>of</strong> numerous local academic <strong>of</strong>ficials.The scientific year ended on November 30th with the unfolding <strong>of</strong> the third meetingin the city <strong>of</strong> Luján, province <strong>of</strong> Buenos Aires, with a major scientific program and theparticipation <strong>of</strong> numerous colleagues.On April 12, 2003, the scientific activities for that year began with the holding <strong>of</strong> thefirst meeting in the halls <strong>of</strong> the Palais Rouge in the city <strong>of</strong> Buenos Aires.On June 28, continuing with the undertaking to make the field known outside the city<strong>of</strong> Buenos Aires, the year’s second scientific gathering was held at the Children’s Hospitalin La Plata, with numerous participants who traveled there from Buenos Aires and thepresence <strong>of</strong> a large number <strong>of</strong> colleagues from the city <strong>of</strong> La Plata and its surroundings.Between September 11 and 13, 2003, the Second Argentine Congress <strong>of</strong> Neonatal <strong>Dermatology</strong>was held with the presidency <strong>of</strong> Dr. José Antonio Mássimo. It enjoyed the presenceas special guests <strong>of</strong> Drs. Carlo Gelmetti (Italy), Joseph Morelli (U.S.) and Marcelo Ruvertoni(Uruguay) and an enrollment that topped the number <strong>of</strong> 800 participants (Figure 7).At the end <strong>of</strong> the congress, during the meeting <strong>of</strong> members, it was decided to confirmthe Governing Board for a new two-year period, the Board being constituted as follows:president, José Antonio Mássimo; vice-president, María Teresa Zabala; general secretary,Pedro García Zubillaga; scientific secretary, Graciela Manzur; treasurer, CarlosLorenzano; full members, Grete Bloch and Nancy Leston; substitute members, SusanaGrees and Silvina Bruey, and as members <strong>of</strong> the monitoring organ, full account reviewersRicardo Kohan and Guillermo Ihlo, and substitute account reviewer Pedro Rovere.On December 6th and 7th, 2003, the year’s scientific activities came to an end at thepicturesque city <strong>of</strong> La Falda, Córdoba, with the unfolding <strong>of</strong> the First Sessions <strong>of</strong> Pediatric<strong>Dermatology</strong> <strong>of</strong> Central Argentina. The visiting lecturers were Pr<strong>of</strong>essors Drs. RicardoNegroni and Héctor Lanfranchi, <strong>of</strong> the city <strong>of</strong> Buenos Aires, Eudoro de los Ríos, <strong>of</strong>San Miguel de Tucumán, and Miguel Tregnaghi <strong>of</strong> the city <strong>of</strong> Córdoba.For the first scientific meeting <strong>of</strong> the year 2004, on March 27 a new visit was paid tothe museum <strong>of</strong> the Reconquest in the city <strong>of</strong> Tigre, in the province <strong>of</strong> Buenos Aires, carryingout an attractive program that was enjoyed by a packed auditorium.From the outset <strong>of</strong> that year ASADEPE’s scientific committee, under the leadership <strong>of</strong>Dr. Graciela Manzur, gave a strong boost to teaching activities at the association’s headquarters,with the <strong>of</strong>fering <strong>of</strong> diverse courses (Esthetics, Immunology, Therapeutics, Genetics,and Exanthematic Diseases) and the setting up <strong>of</strong> the monthly TeachingAthenaeum, with the participation <strong>of</strong> specialists and physicians under training belongingto the residency and to the Pediatric <strong>Dermatology</strong> study course <strong>of</strong> the Medical School.60
