The SCDV joined CONACEM in 1987, fulfilled the requirements for<strong>Dermatology</strong> and Venereology in 1989 and from 1990 to the present has participatedwith two representatives in the CONACEM <strong>Dermatology</strong> and Venereology Committee.17. International relations. The SCDV is a member <strong>of</strong> the International League <strong>of</strong> DermatologicalSocieties (ILDS) and is the most important spokesman for Chilean dermatologistsbefore the <strong>American</strong> Academy <strong>of</strong> <strong>Dermatology</strong> (USA).18. National relations. The SCDV is affiliated with the Medical Society <strong>of</strong> Santiago,CONACEM and the National Association <strong>of</strong> Medical Scientific Societies.19. Community-oriented campaigns. In 1997, during the presidency <strong>of</strong> María IsabelHerane, a series <strong>of</strong> annual campaigns was launched for the prevention <strong>of</strong> skin cancer,which had a major impact; they were continued by the succeeding boards and backed bythe Health Ministry and pharmaceutical companies.20. New bylaws. In November 1999 the annual meeting <strong>of</strong> the membership adopteda modification <strong>of</strong> the 1985 bylaws.
