Combined use premisesPremises that operate as multi-use premises where there is more than one useand the uses are not dependent on, or part <strong>of</strong>, the other uses, ie ancillary to them.Examples include: café/bar/nightclub; restaurant/nightclub; public house/restaurant;bar/performance venue, etc. These types <strong>of</strong> premises sometimes operate in differentways throughout the day and night and may vary their operation over the days <strong>of</strong> theweek.Interested partyResidents and businesses in the vicinity <strong>of</strong> premises where an application for apremises licence or a qualifying club certifi cate has been made or an application for avariation to an existing premises with a premises license or a qualifying club certifi cate.(See Section 13, <strong>Licensing</strong> Act 2003)KaraokeSinging by members <strong>of</strong> the public to musical backing or accompaniment. Usuallyinvolving pre-recorded music and numbers <strong>of</strong> members <strong>of</strong> the public singing in series.Late night refreshment premisesA person providing late night refreshment at any time between the hours <strong>of</strong> 23:00 and05:00. This consists <strong>of</strong> the supply <strong>of</strong> hot food or hot drink to members <strong>of</strong> the public, ora section <strong>of</strong> the public, on or from any premises, whether for consumption on or <strong>of</strong>f thepremises. (Schedule 2, <strong>Licensing</strong> Act 2003).Licensable activitiesThose activities under the <strong>Licensing</strong> Act 2003 which require a licence from the<strong>Licensing</strong> Authority (council) include the following:(a) the sale by retail <strong>of</strong> alcohol(b) the supply <strong>of</strong> alcohol by or on behalf <strong>of</strong> a club to, or to the order <strong>of</strong>, a member <strong>of</strong> aclub(c) the provision <strong>of</strong> regulated entertainment(d) the provision <strong>of</strong> late night refreshment.89
