Adult entertainmentIt is not possible to give an exhaustive list <strong>of</strong> what amounts to entertainment orservices <strong>of</strong> an adult or sexual nature. Applicants and responsible authorities needto apply common sense to this matter. However, such entertainment or services, forexample, would generally include topless staff, striptease, lap dancing, table dancingor poledancing, performances involving signifi cant violence or horrifi c incidents,feigned or actual sexual acts or fetishism, or entertainment involving strong and<strong>of</strong>fensive language.ChildrenThere are several defi nitions <strong>of</strong> children under the <strong>Licensing</strong> Act 2003A child is defi ned for the purposes <strong>of</strong> section 145 <strong>of</strong> the Act as an individual agedunder 16. For the purposes <strong>of</strong> the Act, children are considered to be unaccompanied6if they are not in the company <strong>of</strong> an individual aged 18 or over. 1 The Act makes it an<strong>of</strong>fence to allow unaccompanied children on premises used exclusively or primarilyfor the supply <strong>of</strong> alcohol for consumption on the premises. It is also an <strong>of</strong>fence toallow unaccompanied children under 16 at other premises supplying alcohol forconsumption on premises with a premises licence, club premises certifi cate ortemporary event notice between 00:00 and 05:00.Section 146 <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Licensing</strong> Act 2003 on sale <strong>of</strong> alcohol to children makes it clear thatthe sale <strong>of</strong> alcohol to any individual under 18 is an <strong>of</strong>fence.In Section 20, for the purposes <strong>of</strong> the exhibition <strong>of</strong> fi lm, children means persons under18.ClippingObtaining money through deception by the apparent <strong>of</strong>fer <strong>of</strong> sexual services orentertainment. This may involve the simple deception <strong>of</strong> receiving money and sendingvictims to addresses where no such <strong>of</strong>fer is available, the supply <strong>of</strong> non-alcoholicdrinks at infl ated prices and the charging <strong>of</strong> fees for hostess services when notrequested. In some instances, it is associated with luring victims to places where theyare robbed.886 Section 145 (2) <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Licensing</strong> Act 2003 Chapter 17
