ecognising the effect that existing policies have had to date and that where necessaryproblems arising from individual premises can be dealt with by enforcement action,taking into account the role <strong>of</strong> other plans and policies (particularly planning policy),and fi nally having regard to the policies with respect to specifi c types <strong>of</strong> premises,particularly restaurants, it was determined that there should be no change to theexisting Stress Area boundaries. It was also determined that the Stress Areas shouldnot be extended to include the areas referred to above and that it is not necessary tointroduce special geographically based policies to protect any specifi c areas outsidethe existing Stress Areas.Size <strong>of</strong> the Stress Areas9. The Stress Areas cover the following areas:STRESS AREAS AREA (HECTARES) PERCENTAGE OF CITYWest End Stress Area 98.2 4.5%Edgware Road Stress Area 9.9 0.4%Queensway/Bayswater Stress Area 13.0 0.6%Total Stress Areas 121.1 5.5%Total area <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Westminster</strong> 2,202.0 100.0%10. The Stress Areas in total therefore only account for 5.5% <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong>’s total area <strong>of</strong>2,202 ha.147
