Sound insulation and sound reduction assessment.10. A Sound Insulation and Sound Reduction Assessment should provide information, asapplicable, on proposed:a) Assessment <strong>of</strong> the existing sound insulation <strong>of</strong> the building fabric.b) Operational building layout to prevent noise escape.c) Sound insulation measures to prevent airborne and structural transmission <strong>of</strong> noiseand vibration to adjacent premises.d) Attenuation measures to minimise noise breakout, and to prevent noise disturbanceto the surrounding area.e) Use <strong>of</strong> electronic sound limiters on amplifi cation systems as alternative means <strong>of</strong>control.f) Other measures to reduce structural transmission <strong>of</strong> noise and vibration.g) Installation <strong>of</strong> acoustic doors and lobbies.(Note: BS 8233: 1999 contains useful guidance on commercial design criteria).Planned management measures for control <strong>of</strong> noise11.
