HOCKEY CLuB PERSONNELSTRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACHRichHESKETHRich Hesketh has been working with the Flames as a Strength & ConditioningCoach since the 1995-1996 season. He has a BPE from McMaster University(1987) and has represented Canada on eleven national track and field teams inthe decathlon. He has <strong>com</strong>peted internationally at the Commonwealth Gameson two occasions, represented Canada at the Pan American Games and is a5-time Canadian Champion in Combined Events.As the Strength and Conditioning Coach, Rich creates individualized trainingprograms for each player of the Calgary Flames for both the hockey seasonand off-season. He also designs programs and trains all Flames prospects atthe developmental level. He works closely with the medical staff and athletictherapist to condition players while they are injured or rehabilitating.Rich also coaches speed/power athletes for the University of Calgary andCalgary Spartans Track and Field clubs. In July of 2005, Rich joined Nike as aconsultant trainer and helped develop their new hockey training program.Rich and his wife Linda reside in Calgary with their three children: Asia, Jadeand Adrian.ATHLETIC THERAPISTMorrisBOYERMorris Boyer is entering his 12th season as the Athletic Therapist with theFlames after joining the organization at the start of the 1997-98 season. InJuly of 2001, he was appointed head Athletic Trainer for the Flames with hisprimary responsibilities including injury prevention, care and rehabilitation.In April of 2003, he was named Athletic Therapist for the Canadian NationalMen’s Hockey Team who captured a gold medal at the IIHF Men’s WorldChampionships.Morris is a graduate of the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of PhysicalEducation. In 1991 he achieved his Certified Athletic Therapist diploma fromthe Canadian Athletic Therapists Association. Upon graduation, Morris workedwith the Canadian Men’s Volleyball team, the Canadian Professional RodeoSport Medicine Team, Edmonton Brick Men Soccer Club, Red Deer Collegeand the Sports Medicine Clinic in Oshawa, Ontario. In addition, he was amember of the athletic therapy staff for the 1993 World University Games and1995 PAN-AM Games in Argentina.Morris’s experience is not limited to his post graduation years. He has alsoworked as a student therapist at the Glen Sather Sports Medicine Clinic inEdmonton and was a therapist for both the U of Alberta Golden Bears HockeyTeam and the Sherwood Park Crusaders Jr. ‘A’ Hockey Team.Morris and his wife Huguette have two sons Dakota and Chet.18 CALGARY FLAMES
