CALGARY FLAMES OWNERSByron J.SEAMANByron J. Seaman was born in Rouleau, SK. He received his Bachelorof Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Universityof Saskatchewan in 1945 and spent one year as an instructor inMechanical Engineering at that University. In October 1992 hereceived an Honorary Doctor of Science degree from the Universaity ofSaskatchewan. Mr. Seaman has over 50 years of experience in variouspositions in the oil, gas and resource industries on a world-wide basis.He served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer ofBow Valley Resource Services Ltd. of Calgary (subsequently BovarInc.) from 1976 to 1987, then as Chairman until 1990. He has served asa Director on numerous boards and is a Director Emeritus of ProvidentEnergy Trust.Mr. Seaman has served as a liaison for the Canadian Federal andProvincial Governments in providing management assistance todeveloping countries and was a member of the Premier's AdvisoryCouncil on Science and Technology in Alberta from 1990-92. Involvedwith numerous political, charitable and <strong>com</strong>munity organizations, Mr.Seaman received a special award in 1987 from the Association ofProfessional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta in recognition of his outstandingcontribution to society. In 1991 he was inducted into the Saskatchewan Oil & Gas Industry Hall ofFame and was a recipient of the Governor General's Medal in 1993. On June 1, 2007, he was inductedinto the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame together with his brother D.K. Seaman and Harley Hotchkiss, asbuilders who brought the <strong>NHL</strong> Atlanta Flames to Calgary.Darryl K.SEAMANDaryl K. (Doc) Seaman is Chairman and President of Dox InvestmentsInc. Mr. Seaman was born in Rouleau, SK., and graduated from theUniversity of Saskatchewan with a degree, Bachelor of Science,Mechanical Engineering. In 1982, he was presented with an HonoraryDoctor of Laws degree from U of S and was a Governor General’sappointment to the Royal Commission on Economic Union andDevelopment Prospects for Canada from 1982-1985. In 1985 he wasawarded the Association of Professional Engineers Frank SpraginsAward and the McGill University Management Achievement Award.In 1987 he was made a Life Member, Association of ProfessionalEngineers of Alberta. He was inducted into the Saskatchewan Oil &Gas Industry Hall of Fame in 1989.In 1993 he received the Rotary International’s Paul Harris FellowshipAward, received an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from theUniversity of Calgary and was appointed an Officer of the Order ofCanada. In 1994 he sponsored the D.K. Seaman Chair in Technical andProfessional Communication at the U of S. In 1997 he was inducted intothe Canadian Oilmen’s Hall of Fame. In 2001 he was made an HonoraryRegent of the Athol Murray College of Notre Dame and received the Humanitarian Award. In 2004 hewas inducted into the Calgary Business Hall of Fame.He was an RCAF World War II pilot for 5 years with extensive tours in England, North Africa, Sicilyand Italy. Mr. Seaman is a director of a number of public <strong>com</strong>panies and is an active supporterof a number of local charities and <strong>com</strong>munity projects. Besides the Flames, Mr. Seaman’shockey experience includes; Notre Dame Hounds, Wilcox, Moose Jaw Canucks, and he wasan original Governor, Hockey Canada Foundation. On June 1, 2007, he was inducted into theAlberta Sports Hall of Fame together with his brother B.J. Seaman and Harley Hotchkiss.On October 9th, 2008 Doc Seaman is being award the Alberta Order of Excellence.10 CALGARY FLAMES
