He is a leading investor in, andmanaging director and chairman or vice chairman of, numerous publiclytraded <strong>com</strong>panies including Canadian Natural Resources Limited,Ensign Energy Services Inc. and Magellan Aerospace Corporation.Today, these <strong>com</strong>panies employ over 15,000 individuals. He is also achairman, director and co-owner of the Calgary Flames Hockey Club.Mr. Edwards graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from theUniversity of Saskatchewan with Great Distinction and a Bachelor ofLaws with Honours from the University of Toronto. After moving toCalgary in 1983, he became a lawyer and later a Partner with Burnet,Duckworth & Palmer, a Calgary-based law firm.At the <strong>com</strong>munity level, Mr. Edwards is a member of The Councilof Champions of the Calgary Children’s Initiatives and the CanadianCouncil of Chief Executives and on the Board of Directors of the BanffCentre, the Canada West Foundation and the C.D. Howe Institute.Harley N.HOTCHKISSHarley N. Hotchkiss manages his own oil, gas, real estate andagricultural enterprises. He was born in Tillsonburg, Ontario and afterWorld War II service in the Canadian Merchant Marine, graduatedfrom Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree inGeology. Mr. Hotchkiss has spent his entire working career in Calgary.He is a member of several Canadian and American professionalsocieties relating to petroleum and mineral exploration and has servedon a number of corporate boards. He is a member of the CanadianPetroleum Hall of Fame and the Calgary Business Hall of Fame. Healso received the Haskayne School of Business Distinguished LeaderAward and the City of Calgary Grant MacEwan Lifetime AchievementAward. He is past Chairman of both the Foothills Hospital Board andthe Board of Trustees of the Alberta Heritage Foundation for MedicalResearch.Mr. Hotchkiss is a Director of the Hockey Hall of Fame, <strong>NHL</strong> Governorfor the Calgary Flames and served six two-year terms as Chairman ofthe <strong>NHL</strong> Board of Governors. He was inducted as an Honored Memberof the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2006.Mr. Hotchkiss is an Officer of the Order of Canada and a member of the Alberta Order of Excellence.He holds an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Calgary and an Honorary Doctorof Science Degree from Michigan State University.Alvin G.LIBINAlvin G. Libin is a native Calgarian with business interests in real estate,oil and gas and financial services. Mr. Libin is the President and ChiefExecutive Officer of Balmon Investments Ltd., a private managementservices and investment <strong>com</strong>pany. He has a strong <strong>com</strong>mitment tothe City of Calgary and to the Province of Alberta and has providedleadership in various volunteer positions.In 2003, Mr. Libin and his wife Mona, through The Alvin and MonaLibin Foundation, established The Libin Cardiovascular Institute ofAlberta in partnership with the University of Calgary and the CalgaryHealth Region. Its mission is to provide world-class cardiovascularhealth care, education and research for southern Alberta. He is PastChairman of the Alberta Ingenuity Fund, a Foundation created bythe Government of Alberta to stimulate and support science andengineering research for the benefit of Albertans. He also serves asa director of several corporate and <strong>com</strong>munity boards. Mr. Libin is anOfficer of the Order of Canada and holds an Honorary Doctors of Lawsdegree from the University of Calgary. He was inducted into the AlbertaOrder of Excellence in 20048 CALGARY FLAMES
