justice, they have been led to consider as the authority for thesedevilish doctrines and false interpretation of our Lord's parablesand of the symbols of the book of Revelation, originated bythose who during the "dark ages" used to burn and torment Biblebelievers.GOD'S LOVE--HOW SHOWN.When we declare that whatever there is of love and sympathyin man, is only the remnant of the original divine likeness, inwhich Adam was created, not wholly effaced by six thousandyears of degradation in sin, it at once raises the question: In whatway does God manifest his sympathy and love in suchemergencies, when even the hearts of fallen human beings aretouched, with sympathy and love, to acts of kindness andsuccor?A correct answer is, that God is represented in every act ofkindness done, whether by his children or by the world; becausetheir actions under such circumstances are the results, in somemeasure, of his character and disposition.
