She teaches Mass CommunicationTheory, Communication for Social Change, and InternationalCommunication. She is interested in the cultural consequences of nationalism,capitalism, and globalization, with a particular emphasis on internationalcommunication, media and cultural identities. Her research seeks to connectmedia with work in journalism, media studies, cultural geography and nationalismstudies. She has published numerous books and articles, including‘The notion of »The West« in the Serbian National Imaginary’ in European Journalof Cultural Studies (8: 2); ‘Yugo-nostalgia: Cultural Memory and Mediain the former Yugoslavia’ in Critical Studies of Mass Communication (2007:24: 1) and ‘Former Yugoslavia on the World Wide Web: Commercializationand Branding of Nation-states’ in the International Communication Journal,Gazette (2008, 70:5).Zala Volčič je podoktorska raziskovalka na Centru za kritične in kulturne študijeUniverze Queensland v Avstraliji. Poučuje predmete kot Teorija množičnegakomuniciranja, Komuniciranje za družbeno spremembo in Mednarodnokomuniciranje. Raziskovalno se ukvarja s posledicami nacionalizma, kapitalizmain globalizacije, s poudarkom na mednarodnem komuniciranju, mediji inkulturno identiteto.
