<strong>RESEARCH</strong> <strong>ANALYST</strong><strong>JOB</strong> <strong>DESCRIPTION</strong><strong>The</strong> <strong>Research</strong> <strong>Analyst</strong> will work collaboratively with the Coordinator of Institutional <strong>Research</strong> toproduce fundamental Federal, State and Institutional reports (i.e. IPEDS, NYSED, SIRIS,Perkins reports). <strong>The</strong> <strong>Research</strong> <strong>Analyst</strong> will define data elements and parameters, analyze andprovide recommendations based on output. In addition, this position is responsible forperforming the office’s data programming functions; dataset development, dataset managementand reporting in collaboration with all college divisions and SCCC Foundation.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• As a member of the Office of Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness, the incumbentwill develop, design, and assist in the creation of questionnaires, surveys and datagathering tools to ensure the necessary information captured pertains to educationaltrends and college needs.• Responsible for extracting data from existing sources, quantify and summarize findingsfor the Office of Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness.• Collaborate with the Coordinator of Institutional <strong>Research</strong> to collect, extract, and acquiredata sets.• Prepare and distribute a variety of annual internal reports, including, but not limited to,the Fact Book, Fast Facts and Assessment Report.• Develop, design, analyze, and distribute internal and external survey reports.• Transform and recode data into proper formats to support useful reporting efforts.• Responsible for the creation of efficient processes that will support routinizing datamanagement tasks and regular data reports/requests.• Routinely collaborate with SCCC constituents to ensure accurate and meaningful data iscollected.• Provide data analysis for grants, proposals and college constituents.• Assist programs as necessary on assessment, including but not limited to, developingassessment measure and developing systems for tracking and collecting data.• Assist with data warehousing processes and archive data to meet accreditationrequirements.• Manipulate data into useable information for the College and for external reportingpurposes.• Support policy and planning groups engaged in accreditation processes.• Consistently audit data collection to ensure data integrity.• Organize and manage data fields.


• Participate in various Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness related initiatives.• Other duties as required and assigned by the Assistant Dean for Assessment andInstitutional Effectiveness and Coordinator of Institutional <strong>Research</strong>.QUALIFICATIONSMinimum of two year’s experience in data analysis, collection and reporting, Bachelor’s Degreerequired, Master’s degree preferred. Required competencies include prior experience extractingdata with SAS, or SPSS, or related statistical software, in addition to excellent computer skillsand proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Word, preferably Access.Successful candidate must have strong attention to detail and accuracy. <strong>The</strong> ability to clearlycommunicate complex, technical information to a variety of audiences, as well as, have theability to quantify and measure data driven by theory to produce or drive organizationaleffectiveness.Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required with the ability to partner andwork effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge of highereducation as well as (spell out) FERPA are preferred.REPORTING RESPONSIBILITY<strong>The</strong> <strong>Research</strong> <strong>Analyst</strong> is a professional (unrepresented), 12 month position. <strong>The</strong> <strong>Research</strong><strong>Analyst</strong> will report directly to the Assistant Dean for Assessment and Institutional Effectivenessand the Coordinator of Institutional <strong>Research</strong>.
